ride height problems
Moderator: martauto
when i first bought my car, 318i convertible, it was already lowered 35mm. it was only lowering springs. the drivers side of the car seemed to sit a little lower than the passenger side, both front and bak. i thought the problem was due to the springs so recently purchased a spax suspension kit and have had that fitted, but the car still sits the same. any ideas on where the problem lies and also anyone had same problem?

may be a silly suggestion but my cab is a LHD and while poking around in the boot i found a huge chunk of lead painted black and with BMW logos on it (thus i assumed it was supposed to be there) it was located in the boot on the right (uk driver side but my passenger side) under the carpet and under a small plate. maybe yours should have one on the other side to counter balance something!!?? was gonna take mine out but i guess it is in there for a reason, it weights around 30-40kg!!!!

I have a 2DR E30 and it sits slightly lower on the drivers side (right hand side) than the passenger side. I have seen posts about this before on other forums (or is it fora?) and this seems to be the norm. Think it could be due to the car being designer originally for LHD.

I've got the same problem on my car, and I was thinking buying a coilover kit to get rid of it, but it cost so much
The weight on right side in the boot is present in all convertible.
Must be there for balance...

There for balance to counteract the drivers weight, as he was initially only supposed to sit on the left.
Read this quite a few times.

In this case, why BMW didn't simply put the battery there?motorsport wrote:There for balance to counteract the drivers weight, as he was initially only supposed to sit on the left.

I've got a lowly 320i saloon but I noticed a listing to one side..forget which... but I tightend the bolts that hold the large rubber bushibgs in place on the diff carriage ( located on either side- rear- of the car, near the jacking points).
They're two 17mm bolts that hold the diff carriage to the body. Seemed to level her out jes fine!
hope this helps!
