i use my 320i as a daily drive and its now in good shape but cant afford to keep it locked away for the winter and will outside.whats the best things to do to protect it over the winter months whilst driving?

Just make sure you keep it clean pressure wash under car often.

good clean and polish, even the wheels to stop the salt, if you use de icer use spray bottle stuff, the can stuff damages paint work ive heard

do you mean engine too? change antifreeze, and oil?
if there wern't people like me,
with cars like mine,
who would you put down to make yourself feel better?

If you can get under her have a look for any underseal that cracked or coming off, clean it back and apply new (and treat any rust). Give the car a thorough clean/wash now and get some wax on the body work and even the wheels. As mentioned wash her often especially once they start salting the roads.
