Has anyone chenged the valves, cambelt, and tensioner?

Parts are about Ԛ£200, my mate in the garage says Ԛ£400 for him to do it.

How hard is it to take the head off it?

How big a job is it? How long will it take the home mechanic? are there any unusual tools i would need to do it? Are the pistons going to be fucked if the valves hit them? Anything im likely to snap or break doing it?

taking the head off isn't hard.
stripping the head down is a bite more tricky and you need a valve spring compressor to do it.

Take the head off and take it to an engine specialist to sort valves, renew guides and give a light skim. DONT break the exhaust studs.
Wouldn't advise a complete novice to refit the head etc., but there's nothing particularly difficult or needs special tools.
