My old boy retired earlier this year, and has come round to the idea of getting a comfy cruiser for high days and long motorway trips :D

He currently does between 5-7k a year, and is looking to spend no more that £10000 on a vehicle up to 7 years old..

Looking for auto- so my mum can drive if needed, and leather. Anything else a bonus

So far, these are the options he fancies...

E60 525d 2004 £5995

This is a 140k car, MOT may next year..

Full black leather, Auto full bmw SH Climate and Cruise .

Had it out for a test drive- goes well and no problems to report.

e60 525d 2004 £9500

60k miles Full MOT full BMW SH

Not been to see it yet

Seems expensive, but low mileage in its favour?

e60 545i 2004 £9995

60k miles, full MOT, sports electric Leather.
Looks huge spec- but any hidden issues/ running costs?

I'd appreciate any info folks have on common faults/issues etc- I've not really had the pleasure of piloting such beasts previously

cheers

neil

Best advice, AVOID diesels ! especially bearing in mind the low miles your paremts will be doing.

You pay a huge premium over a petrol when you buy and with the exception of the mpg, the running costs are much higher. 100000 miles on one of these = big bills ! :(

Thanks for that, I'll feed it back.

Anyone else got any common failures etc?

Look for a 525i petrol - you'll get a nice mileage example from a BMW dealer with the AUC warranty for 7-8 grand.

Just stuck a deposit on a 3 owner 520i..

2004 in Black, with 32,000 miles on it, and full BMW history.

Got it at a good price with a 12 month warrenty.

Car will be serviced prior to collection, and couple of little niggles sorted...

Bargainatious!
