With my 'complete conversion' came an OEM BMW fan 64.54-8 364 093.
As far as I can tell this is an auxillary cooling fan for an E36 (64509364093 - I don't know why the slightly different part number). It's 16" blade diameter and about 100mm at it's thickest. Has anyone made this work? I suspect not as it's way too big with all the ducting.
Can someone provide me a link to a recommended 14" (or thereabouts) fan which is known to be good for this conversion. Or is there a known type which could be picked up used from ebay or a scrappy which would work?
Thanks in advance.
Someone recommend a fan to buy

As far as I remember, and without going out with a tape measure, a 16" fan fits perfectly; one mount direct to the right hand vertical frame, and the other two mounts by small brackets to the upper and lower frame rails.
Part #64509364093 doesn't appear to exist.

First I used an e34 aircon fan on my m50, then I bought a 16' fan off ebay, uni so it can work both ways. £35
As brian said, 16' is the biggest fan you can fit in the gap

Oh sorry Brian, typo. It should be 64508364093, although the one I have strangely is 64548364093.
I think I'll be able to get the fan to fit, had a go today at cutting away some of the fan shrouding and it looks OK. The main concern is that it may be too thick at over 100mm. Although Cook318 seems to have managed it OK here:

The good thing is it's 3 wire, which I assume means 2 speed, and it should be reliable.
I need to buy the 328 aircon radiator to be able to test it out properly, but will resist buying anything else for the timebeing.
