I see the E28 is quite a popular discussion now. Found this great video.
I'm really starting to get an itch for one.

That review, along with a guide in,I think,Total BMW of a similar vintage, prompted my purchase of an E28,an Alpine White 520i in about '93ish IIRC.
I was running an E21 320,and 'er indoors was fed up with shoveling rubber duck89 into the rear seat and insisted that the next car that I bought had to have 4 doors.E30 with the correct number of doors were available but very expensive,a chrome bumper 318i was with a local dealer for £2995
The bigger E28 was £1495....I kept it for seven years and is the only car that I wept real tears for when it's new owner drove it away.
The only reason that it was sold was to part fund the purchase of a Daimler V8!

Retro charm indeed.
The only major problem with the E28 is its successor, the E34. Having had both models in the family, I'd say the E34 does whatever the E28 can do, but better. Superior build quality, better interior, subjectively better exterior and the M50s make the engines in the E28 seem dated.
