Started my M50 for the first time today. Sprang straight into life once the fuel had pumped around a bit (2nd turn of the starter). LOUD! So far no exhaust, only manifold, so it scared the bejeezus out of the neighbours. Ran strong and steady for 20-30 seconds before I turned it off out of respect for Sunday afternoon.
I'm pretty chuffed but there's still a small mountain to climb. Finish the exhaust first, then do a proper assessment. Tidy the wiring, find a solution to the airbox which is sitting on top at the moment, fit up final drive, fan setup, bigger rad, not to mention welding and spraying the 2 wings which I removed.
Any suggestions for dealing with the airbox would be welcome.
Also, anyone tried "rocket boost" additive spayed into the inlet to clear out the carbon deposits??

Does the car have ABS?
This affects what airbox you can use. If ABS is present then you won't get the M50 airbox to fit, so will have to run a cone filter. If no ABS then an early M50 325i airbox fits in with some new brackets made up

No ABS.
I have still got the e30 radiator resevoir though as I havn't changed the rad yet.
Looks like I 'may' get it to fit in, but the oval intake hole will be behind the headlights. Is the airbox orientated normally when fitted to the E30?
All things considered I'd like to use the originalairbox, it looks like it's up to the task.
