E39/E36 Airbox, cone filter and ABS

My engine was from a E39 and I have the airbox that came with it which looks pretty large! I have the option of getting a E36 airbox and keeping it all looking OEM or a cone filter.

Is a cone filter worth while getting if I make up a shield for it so it has it's own little compartment?

Another thing is the ABS pump, does it fit under a e36 airbox or cone filter? Theo's M3 has it moved towards the turret on a bracket, I was thinking of doing this unless either of the above fit.

Dont think that the E36 box will fit if you have ABS.
Cone will fit and look a bit like this.



Or you could use a 7 series one like i changed to.Gota get another one though and drill the hole in the right place this time

Im in the same boat with mine now.
Ideally I want to fit an OEM airbox but have my doubts an E36 box will fit(the correct way around) due to the ABS pump.
I havent got one to try yet so am using this huge filter and shitty DIYed shield.
Not ideal and ugly too but I cant be arsed to relocate the ABS pump.

The 7series one is that an M30 airbox? I thought about the m30 but it isn't ideal I though? Rather e36 or cone.

I might move the abs unit, will be doing all new brake lines anyway and just need a bracket made up for it. Still looks fairly tight for that cone with the airbox!

My radiator is approx 1" too far over to the passenger side(missing the plastic foot) so is pushing the filter over and upwards.When the rad ismoved it should have a bit more room.
Ivedone an M30 airbox before on my first M50 but after fitting the MAF inside it I couldnt get a filter in it.Probably just the way I fitted it in but though?

I did have a cone with a makeshift heat shield up but the filter was still getting warm especially after idleing at the lights for example!

If you have abs your best option imo is an inclosed filter arangement. Bmc inclosed filter or something similar
