manual sunroof wont open

Hi, manual sunroof on my 318i (1990) just started giving probs. Winding the handle one way lifts the flap OK at the back. But cant get the roof to slide back when winding the other way - handle just jams and wont turn. Wsa working OK before the winter. Anything to oil, inspect etc. Help!

One of the plastic rails that the tin top bolts to could be cracked causing it to run out of true as it dropds below the roofline, or it just needs a good greasing. Either way you'll have to take it out to have a look.
