Got a phonecall yesterday putting me onto this 325i Sport.
Went to view it this morning and left a deposit.
Just got back from paying the remainder and collecting it :D
MOT`d for about 6 mths and little bit of TAX too.
114k with history and old MOT`s.
2 previous owners, last one for 9 years and kept totally standard.
Good original spec too with full OBC,maplight mirror, leccy windows and roof etc.
Engine/box/diff are sweet.
Not sure whats destined for it yet till I get chance to have a good look over it.
Unfortunately rust has took hold in the roof and has actually holed the outer skin at the rear
Gave it a quick jetwash on my way home as it was pretty manky.
Got loads of spares thrown in with it too including brand new Bosal 3pc front and centre sections of exhaust, new exhaust mani gaskets, drivers door lock repair kit,2 spare 15" caps,3 sets rear lights, nice set of Hella headlights,airbox/AFM and few other bits too.

Couple of phone pics :D

Had to be done Matt :P
Skint now though as used the money id saved to get the turbo to buy this so....
Ill have to drop a `drink` in for Chris for putting it my way too but either way im onto a winner at the price.
If its not too bad below the surface id be tempted to flog the Touring and bits and invest the money in a roof skin/paint on this.
If its too far gone then its certainly a good breaker.

Location....not behind Polish camp near Trago?
Apparently good for pics if you can avoid the potholes and broken glass on the way.

Think you just do a left at the Trago mini roundabout and go straight down that road, apparently loads of derelict buildings etc.

Where have all these tech 1's come from? Nice buy that!
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

This one is a local car having been supplied by Chennals of Paignton which is about 10 miles or so away and both registered keepers living in Torquay.
The owner was pretty gutted to sell to be honest but think the rust appearing was the final straw really.

Well I pulled a sicky today but felt mu8ch better by 9.30 so decided to pull some bits of trim of it and see what disasters were hiding beneath.
As expected it does have some issues
Certainly not the worst ive come across but think its a bit much for me :(

N/S/R inner and out arch corroded
O/S/R inner arch corroded
N/S/F Floor/jacking pad corroded
Bulkhead(around body loom gromet) corroded
Jack/battery box corroded
Tiny blister below bottom N/S windscreen seal
N/S/F roof corroded
N/S/R C pillar corroded

These are the worst areas of rust.
I attempted to remove the rear bumper to inspect behind it but the bolts underneath are pretty heavilly correded and didnt want to shear them off.Looking from inside though there is just one small hole right in the bottom corner below N/S/R light.
Rest of the rear panel area is very good and rust free.

Time to give it some thought as to its fate now as it is too much of a resto project for my liking as much as I love the car.
IMO it it too good to break it although I could make good use of the OBC and LSD etc and proberly make a good profit selling off the rest.
Or I could sell it on to someone else(had endless PM`s already) and use the money to make more progress with my Touring.

Took loads of pics today of the problem areas so ill put them in a file and post a link up shortly, maybe you could give your opinion when you have seen them?

Forgot to mention also that the PO said it also had a major engine service less than 3k ago including cambelt and tensioner kit so thats an added bonus.
Went through the history last night and although a few stamps are missing all are from Chennals the supplying dealer, sad but cool fact :P

I say dont break it, too many E30's are broken. It just seems a shame to break a tech 1 sport, if it was a 318i 4 door turd it'd be different.

im sure someone (not me granted) will take on the resto.

If I was you Tony, I would move it on to someone who is willing to take it on as a resto and make a couple of quid for yourself and call it a day.

Starting a resto will just get out of control in the spends dept and it would be a shame to bust it as we are now at the stage where these cars are being recognised as genuine classic material and far too many cars with minor issues have been fragged already, cough Barry, bronzit, cough :D
