Hi gents a friend of mine has got a 73/74 2002 tii lux in black. Its been sat in a garage since the early 90's what kind of money do you think he could get for it? I've never seen it and thats all the info that i know. Thanks in advance.

Depends on the "Rust" factor, anywhere from £500 upto £4-5k for a decent one.

It's not going to be worth £5k if it's been off the road since 1990ish. Maybe £400-800 if it's in ok nick, to £1500 if it's really clean. It'll need a lot of recommissioning before it can be used again.

What's the mileage would be the next obvious question...

If the lux trim is in mint or near mint condition and the Kugelfischer pump is in working condition and there isn't too much rust, then you should get around £2k maybe more...

If ther trim is knackered (probable), the pump needs reconditioning (likely) and there is more than a small amount of body/chassis corrosion then the £500 estimate is probably generous...

Sacreligious of me as an E30 M20 owner but the M10 2002 is more fun to drive...the joys of a 4 speed box are many. Standard 2002 gearing is a delight and the non PAS and slightly wobbly recirculating ball steering make it a load of fun. The feel inside the cab is also great - like driving in a fish bowl due to the tiny pillars all round.
Once I have fitted the bilsteins, eibach springs and refurb the suspension it is gonna be sensational

I have a couple of E30s - lowly 318i models and previously a 318iS. I feel the E30 is a better car in almost every way and I enjoy driving them. I think if the E30 as a refined 2002. However, I'll never sell my 2002. It really puts a smile of my face when I drive it.

Couldn't agree more - if I want to take a highway cruise in comfort and style I take the E30 everytime, but... if I want a grin and some proper old skool fun it is the '02 everytime

2002 tii's are a right laugh, a bit mroe poke, no weight and low grip means low speed fun.
