I know this an overdiscussed topic, but i'll ask anyway. I just put my hardtop on my cab and on smooth roads the cabin is lovely and quiet and you can hardly tell your doing 80 or whatever. But on rougher roads there are continues noises coming from the back which I can't locate from the driving seat. They are mostly rattles and squeeks, does anyone know of obvious things I can check/get someone else to check??

thanks

Go to a diving store and get some silicone grease. Smear tiny amounts on every rubber surface that touches glass - even the edges (where all my noise came from).

Other than that make sure the hood is stowed well and the cover catch isn't buzzing - you might need to bung in a rubber rest to tension it.

Get someone in the back to listen while you drive - or vice versa if you trust them - and see if there are any more to find.

Good luck.

thanks mate will try that. Sounds I can hear were there when the soft was up so I don't know if that points to exhuast brackets (do they squeek??) or something internal at the rear (does suspension squeek or rattle or just knock when it gets knackered?

Check out the suspension top mounts - rubbers can go and rattle a bit.

I used the new fangled internet to get mine ;)

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=diving ... one+grease

I think my little tin came from somewhere in cornwall actually.

BTW: Silicone grease was called Gummifledge by BMW when they used to sell it. Now they just don't sell it. It's also used sometimes for brake rubbers so a motorstore might just sell it - you never know.

Hi

Automotive vaseline is what you can use on the hardtop seal and front window frame etc

Can bring some to Donnington if you are going..or show you

whether an original or Wiesmann roof may need adjustment...if original to adjust properly will need proper spanner aswell as you 11mm...but better to borrow than buy as you should only need it the once
