Hi guys,

just test fitted my osram silverstar h1s from powerbulbs and well... they're not bright. My sylvania 65watt 9005 bulb puts outs a ton more light which is kidna dissapointing as i hoped that the osrams would be waaay bright but the light output seems very very stock, just whiter. I think even the stock ones put out more light. I have spliced the wires from my US connectors, could there be a fault there?

is there a way of suppyling more voltage to the bulbs? are they just crap bulbs and wasi expecting too much from them?

Anybody have a pic with these bulbs on?

Thanks!

Have you gone from sealed units to Euro projectors?

i'm going to try cleaning the inside of it... don't think it'll make much of a difference.

If i put 10a fuses instead of the 7.5a would it provide more and perhaps sufficient voltage to the bulb?

Cleaning the reflector bowl would make a massove difference!
I think you may have a voltage drop somewhere, can you test what the V reading at the terminals is?

I cleaned one of the relfector bowls and it didn't really make a difference. I do have a volt meter, what exactly would you like me to check?

Edit: got it, i'll check it soon!

From past experience, cleaning the projectors i gained more light, and its worth doing as there is loads of dust in there.

Yep agreed, they look soo much nicer after a good cleanout too! I took mine off and cleaned them in the kitchen sink with plenty of soapy water, you can also get a cloth in the dipped beams easily to clean the inside of the glass, when you remove the back of the light unit.

Pull the bayonet fitting rear cover off the lights and measure the actual voltage across the lamps. Also measure from the metal base of the lamp to the car bodywork.
Unless your lights are of different brightness though, I doubt if you'll find anything amiss, since the four headlamp circuits are independant of each other, and you would have to find a similar fault in each.

well, but none of this should effect the yellowness...

they aren't yellow yellow but they aren't dazzling white like my cheap sylvanias are. :-x

If they are naturally like this i don't think i'd buy osrams again...ever!! but for now it'll suffice. Also i modded my old sylvanias to fit my high beam so i won't have to lose them.

might just grab some 80w h1s later on for the low beams.
