Ive got an old Alpine sub that I want to fit in my car but dont want a huge box in the boot.
Anyone mounted one in the drivers side boot storage compartment?
If so whats the best way of going about it?
Also I dont particulary want the amp on show so any suggestions where to mount that?
Pics of similar set up would be great.

Hey Tony,

Could you mount the amp in the other storage compartment? Or is it not big enough?

Yes thats an option but would mean losing the first aid kit etc and probably trimming the back of the door which if need be ill do but prefer not too.

Its pretty tricky to mount a large sub and an amp without having to compromise space somewhere. I'm making a unit that i've designed (if you can call it that! :P ) to be removable. Mine has an amp for other speakers too, but the principle could be applied for just a sub. It would be even easier with removal meaning just disconnecting three wires.

The last touring i owned in germany had the spare wheel turned upside down on a foam pad, the securing bolt cut down and the sub built into the carpet hardboard boot liner above the spare with a thick mesh cover to stop the dog standing in it and the amp was in the storage compartment

what size is the sub . there are small boxes available or you can go to the alpine site and they have all the enclosure sizes without taking over the whole boot

Slight change of plan now guys.
Picked up a Rockford Fasgate Punch sub already boxed from the local car boot at weekend.
Bargain for a tenner :D
Still got plenty boot space so ill just stick with that.
Amp is mounted on the side so doesnt look pretty but it works and is functional.
