Just fitted a brand new center bearing and carrier, everything to the book. Done a less that 1 mile test and getting bad vibrations. Took the prop back off and i can move the bearing, it rotates fine with no noise but if i rock the carrier back and forth a can feel movement and see it between the inner race and the dust seal.
I'm assuming this is not right??
Any help appreciated
Matt

this might sound stupid, but did you tighten the carrier nuts up? just asking cos it shouldn't move fwd/back? or do you mean just the bearing itself moves? cos a little movement is normal, but I'm talking a small amount?

It was just the bearing itself, i've since compared it against the one i had took off which also has some movement, more than i would have expected tho
Thanks for the reply anyway, its all sorted now, my own stoopid fault, reconnected the prop halves 180degs out, 90 mins for a prop off/on job tho, im getting faster in my old age
Man what a shitty weekend its been
Cheers

That was 90 mins from drivable to back off the stands, i did cheat by dropping the exhaust from the manifold as one piece
Stu - i actually started the job Friday night, done prop bearing, gearbox linages + short shift and changed the gearbox fluid, interrupted by rain, darkness and few trips to get Mrs TouringMatt to/from hospital.
A day is plenty! Did my fuel tank in 12 hours, just dont get your prop alignment wrong
