hi!
just wondering if many m42 owners have had their exhaust manifold crack between the flanges and the pipe. mine seems to have cracks on 3 of the pipes.
im getting an exhaust made up for the car next week and thought that whilst its apart i was going to weld it all up again. but this involves unbolting the manifold off the head. im just a bit worried that bolts might start snapping off due to corrosion ect, or are these normally ok as long as i use plenty of penetrating oil?

It seems to be a common enough problem for the manifolds on the M42 to leak there allright.I would say you would want to bolt the manifold to something when you are welding it as the heat from weling it could warp the manifold and it wont seal against the head.
