The time has come to pull the E30 out of the garage but insurance seems to have shot up from £160 for the year, to nearly £300!!!
I had it on a classic policy before with performance direct but i dont seem to be able to find a new decent price - ive tried the usual lot ie Adrian Flux etc but all coming in at silly money for a second car i rarely use....
This cant be right as i 9 yrs no claims, am 32 and only use it for around 1000 miles in summer !!!
any body got any recoomendations for anyone i can use who has a premium around my old price?? Cheers
Insurance - any ideas where to get it cheap??

We have this thread, with plenty of suggestions, but no one can advise you on exactly which company will be cheap for you, as the one that might be cheapest for one person may well be outrageously expensive for the next person.
Only way is to find a good broker, or spend some considerable time on the 'phone.

I've a feeling insurance companies have been quietly taking a hammering for the past few years - quite a few of them will insure financial transactions as well as homes and cars. The prices to insure financial stuff are rocketing as a result, and they might just be putting premiums up across their families of companies to rebuild the balance sheet...

I insure my 320i with direct line!!! £175 all in im 32 with 10+years ncd!!
Thought id kick start this thread again -
thanks to all the input previously i had my cab insured last year for £105 fully comp with an agreed valuation via Peter Best -
The time has come to reinsure - however they have had to change their underwriting criteria and therefore my 20 yr old cab is no longer considered classic - the threshold has now been raised to 25 yrs and thus my premium is now £270....
Ive tried to get back on Brians old highlighted thread re insurance but this no longer exists - is there another one so i can trawl through the best insurers to use??
I know i may struggle to get another £100 premium but the jump to £260 is too much imo...

Lancaster quoted well on the sport but as Brian said different companies will quote different prices for different folk. Being a 58 year old women in a long term relationship with cats and not a dribbler yet helped get my quote under £200.

I got mine via quidco compare and used a company called surestream, ended up being £68 for the year on a classic policy after cashback, This was just a few months ago.
Mine is an 89 325 cabby, limited to £3k miles, garaged, no accidents or convictions and 31 years old.
But as Brian mentioned there are about a hundred different factors that come into play.

Already have. The one on the left would get it.Barx325i wrote:compare:

so after quite alot of ringing around and speaking to the usual suspects - the best i can do is £220 - better but I still think this is too much for a car that does less than 1000 miles per year and goes some way to beat the £95 premium i was paying a couple of years ago....
