where/how have people mounted there harnesses in their e30's??
ive made a custom sliding subframe for the drivers side out of a e30 rail, but i have nowhere to mount the harness on the transmission tunnel side of the seat,
this is one of the last things i need to do to get my car on the road so any help would be great.
cheers

I have used the existing seat belt mounting holes (in this picture the OEM seat belt buckles are still attached). The harness mounting eyelets use the standard thread. Just replace the orginal bolt with the eyelet. For the other harness mounting points (crotch strap), drill a hole in the floor, and bolt to floor using a 5mm plate on the underside of the car to reinforce and a locknut. Don't skimp on harnesses or harness mounts.

Cheers,
Michael.

not planning on skimping hence the question, ive ordered some weld in plates with bolt's for the eyelet bolts to go into but.....
my e30 doesnt have that mounting point for the standard seatbelt's they are fixed to the seat not the car......
but im thinking on the drilling a hole idea, is there a specific place where the holes could be drilled, i wouldnt want to just drill through thin metal for it to rip out even with a reinforcing plate in the unwanted event of a crash??

Okay, You have jogged my memory. My seatbelt buckles were also orginally on the seat as well. I just drilled a hole into the transmission tunnel and used reinforcement plates to support (if you look closely you can see the buckles are back to front, I.e. the release button is on the wrong side).si- wrote:not planning on skimping hence the question, ive ordered some weld in plates with bolt's for the eyelet bolts to go into but.....

You will be fine as the metal in the transmission tunnel is not that thin (it will not rip just bu drilling through it).

Cheers,
Michael.
