Was out buying a few bits for the car of someone and he had an engine on a pallet out of an e39. The car was 523 but had an engine change at some stage. It's defo a m52 and if it's a b28 she's mine :P Here's some pics:

would that ECU in the pic be for the auto gearbox? Or do E39's have Bosch engine ECU rather than the Siemens the E36 328 has?

Have you got just the engine & loom in the pic or is the EWS gubbins and key available also?

The whole car is there to take bits of. That was just the 1st ecu look-a-like thing that I found in the boot of it.

The loom is no good it seems, have another thread asking what I can use of the donor car and not a whole pile it seems :(

Got the engine home today :)

Quite a few bits that I need to get before I can drop it in. Anyone got the development thread as a pdf/word doc so I can read it offline? I've not got internet for the next few weeks :(

The e39 ECU looks for a few different sensors and sends different signals to the speedo or something.

Was talking to Dicko earlier and he reckons it can be done with the loom and ecu I have.
