316i Conversion Costs

I'm looking to buy a 316i because the condition of it is very good so would make a good base for a conversion. Not too sure which engine to put in it but would like an idea of cost and which engine would be easies/best I'm looking for 170-200bhp doesnt need to be lightning fast just want to be able to enjoy driving it more than anything. Any help you guys can give me would be greatly apreciated. I am reading frantically trying to work out everything that needs doing before the auction ends on monday.

drop a 2.5 in it will give you 172bhp and it wont cost you a great deal. easiest way would be to buy a donor car this will give you everything you need to upgrade the brakes, suspension extra.

Cheers but brakes/supsension would all be upgrade to higher spec than needed as I like my suspension low and my brakes very tight. so a donor car wouldnt really be of much use to me + I wouldnt have the space to keep it.

Do you have any idea how much a garage would charge for doing the swap once I have the 2.5, box + diff?

its other things to like the the 316 wont have rear discs only drums and the front struts wont be the 51mm ones either, all doable just easyier if you taking all the bits off say a MOT failure 325 and putting them in to your 316
