Evening all,

I've been offered an E36 318is 4 door in diamond black, 140000 miles with FSH. Just been taxed and MOT'd and it drives very well indeed. Half leather interior and has air con! It's on an R plate.

Now, I've heard that a 4 door 318is is from South Africa and is quite rare. Just wondered what I should be paying for it? General condition is excellent, although there is some tiny rust bubbling on the rear arches (probably down to South African rust proofing. )

Any E36 buffs on here that are in the know?

Check it thoroughly for rot - these can rust really, really bad. :(

Is it the standard saloon version or the M-Tech kitted example?

These are a decent sh1tter if rust hasn't got hold. If it is tidy with no major issues anything less than a bag is reasonable value.

It is just the standard saloon version. Arches have some very minor bubbling but look solid. Any hidden areas I should know about?

Sills and front wings are hot spots on the ones I've seen. They can also rot badly on the panel between the bootlid and rear bumper. Shame its not the M-Tech one - nice looking car.

Interesting. Sounds like I need to give it a proper going over to look for rust then. :(
