Hi I need some advice on a nasty water leak on my E30 convertible....

The rear passenger footwell is like a mini swimming pool in the rain.., easy to find the problem then, you may think!

Underneath the main seat base on the passenger side it is soaking too. This suggests that rain is comming in from the rear passenger corner. I have removed the rear passenger interior trim to see of water is getting down behind there and it seems fine.

My theory is that it is comming in through the rear hood tonneau cover 'horeshoe' somewhere then draining down the inside panels and leaking underneath the seat and also down to the carpet near where the door sill meets.

Has anyone had any experience of this and how do you solve the problem?

Thanks,

Jason.

In the horseshoe compartment there are drainage holes located at the bottom of the well on each side. These normally get blocked and cause the leak that you are experiencing.

Clear/unblock the drainage holes and the problem should go away.

EDIT: Found a couple of pic's:

After clearing the drain hole it's certainly better but water is still getting in. Underneath the rear passenger carpet is dripping wet.

Any other thoughts on this one? I am totally out of ideas!

Thanks,

Jason.

Have a look at your factory drain plugs in the floor and see if they are still sealed.
Got to weld mine up as its been bashed and letting water in.

Thanks again guys.

The window and hood seals are pretty good. I also had a look under the floor and the drain holes are intact. Is there any way water can get in from the sills?

Thanks again,

Jason.
