EVENING
any tips on loom work when changing an early m20 2litre to a later non dizzy engine,
obviously there will be some little wiring issues, any help on this would be great
thansk in advance people

You need to use the engine loom that goes with the version of Motronic you are intending to use.
Does the car have the old square type engine loom socket (by the fusebox), or does it have the later 20 pin round one?

cant check at thsi moment but ..
im going to presume its a later unit as its a 1986 2.0 car ?
with a 1990 2.5 going into it

If it's the later unit, the loom will plug straight in, BUT see my stickied 'engine swaps warning' in the engine swaps forum.

plug straight in even with the dizzy cap being run thru the old loom,
(just checking yr stickie)

I think you're going to find your car has the older type socket, although I'm no expert on this older stuff.

Would be better to stick it on here! There are others (willnz, where are you) who know more about the old type connector than I do.
