Hi, just after a bit of advise on a M50B25 block i am using for a B30 conversion.
I took the block to the local machine shop this morning and was told the bores would need a considerate amount taken off (so much for a re-hone!) this isnt an option as i already have the standard size piston + rings from the m54 so my next thought was, are the M50 B20/25 blocks as interchangable as the M20 blocks ? Can i rebore a 2ltr block and have all the oil/water ways match the 2.5 head. I did a qick google but couldnt come up with anythig conclusive, doesnt appear to be the most talked about subject.

Thanks in advance :)

in theory i would say yes as they are in essence the same engine but i havent done it so couldnt say for sure as no doubt there will be some difference somewhere.

So it turns out the head bolts/gasket and bearing shells are the same so they should fit, just the block height in relation to the pistons. . . . . .

AFAIK the only difference is the bore diameter, ive got a 2 litre block I saved from a scrap engine, no B25 gasket to check it though

No worries Dan, from what i can tell i think its just the thickness thats different ?
Gonna grab the old gasket and hope the local scrappy still have a B20 kicking about.
