My old man had an e36 328 (which I want.... but anyway) He has had the lower drivers side facia off to replace the brake light switch on my advice and has noticed the sound deadening to be a tad damp and has water marks on them. This coincides with the OBC saying check coolant level and if I remember correctly he has topped it up recently and it is saying it again. I know the E30's have heater matrixes that like to burst, are the e36's similar? Its on a N plate. One would certainly explain the other. Alternatively does anyone know any other common places for coolant to escape from as it does not appear apparent when looking under the bonnet.
I suggested that as a possibility rather then the gospel truth. He said the windscreen surround is knackered and he reckons that that could be causing the damp as well. Certainly sounds like a possibility but again I thought I would ask to be certain.

Finally, his windscreen has been scratched by something which has got onto his windscreen wiper which he has since replaced. He is talking about a new windscreen, but I remember reading in an article of Practical Classics about something called Glas-Weld which repairs scratches and saves the cost of a new windshield. Again does anyone have any knowledge as I cant now find the magazine it was in?
