Just been going through some posts and there is a new member going on about how he want's that Euro look to his car.

I mean WTF is a Euro look? It seem more and more I am finding terms that I would see on a Cruize site or something. Can someone please enlughten me in all these terms? Worse still is this a sign of me getting that bit older and no longer understanding what you younger members are now talking about?

I am confussed.com to say the least and my morphines not even kicked in yet!

Slammed on the deck, deep dish polished rimzzzzzz, with or without stretched tyres, minimal bodywork appendages. Almost acceptable, but not quite.

Stretched tyres are just stooopid IMO. Each to their own though I guess.

That is nice Steve, but it needs to lose the bodykit for proper Euro. Or at least the rear spoiler.

as has been said above, low, wide wheels, clean simple bodywork.

done well they can be quite tastefull, but like all forms of modifications, when taken to extremes they look daft.

where's that picture of the two white e30s in a petrol station that seems to pop up quite a lot? perfect examples of the look, bodywork pretty much as it left the factory, pulled out arches, smoked lights, scraping the tarmac with some nice deep dish wheels tucked right into the arches.

it's about as far removed from the barryboy idea of cosmetic mods, bodykits, big (tall) wheels, wings etc as you can get.
cheers,

harry

euro has now progressed to oem+ and now "stanced"

felix, what you saw at DC09 all the dubs lower than a snakes cock to the ground, stretched tyres, clean body styling etc thats what its all about.

but its loock and concept that is constantly evolving, and moving forward and boundires being pushed

Not e30, but still cool and most definately euro. As with any 'scene' theres always the special ones with lairy colours or dodgy tasteless mods.

So are these the type of cars that you see with hydrolics or is that yet another tangent of styling?

I actually thing the tech2 looks nice with a very clean styling as it really does shows some nice lines on the e30.

So I am right in saying it's about making the car look understated so it makes the wheels stand out more and give a bigger wow factor?

Also with regards to tyre stretching, I know I'm not the most mechanically minded zoner but surley it's a dangerus thing to do and also makes the changes of knackering an expensive set of wheels alot higher.

Kos when you mentioned DC09 it is the one thing I really remember about the VW owners near us with these highly polished chromed wheels with basically a dull looking car on top. I think the only one that I can remember liking was a Polo pickup thing which was in the most stunning blue paint and had Ronal turbos on.

Is the whole look like Bootymans car , about the show over the practicality or is this a look that they use every day. Finally why on earth is it an euro look , surley this would be inspired by the low rider cars found on the coasts of the USA in the 70's?

forget what the yanks do with hydrolics

a lot of euro cars as such run air ride systems, to be really low when parked up, but there are others like me that think air ride is for poofs :)

tyre stetching, if its milds stretch then its no worries at all

ive never had any issues over the years

bootymans car is deffo not euro 8O

some times its best not to think about it dan, if you dont understand it
do what you like and not worry about different trends............

euro look

the euro look as such is the stretched tyres look and to do with TUV regulations

no, the aim was to get the widest rims on to the car and not have the tyres sticking out, so they started tretching them

also, bolting on body kits is no no in germany because they do not pass strict TUV testing, so they had to modify what they had, smoothing colourt coding etc

so, its a tred that started in germany and is called euro

Kos I was meaning that it's looks over praticality when refering to Booties car. Also agreed it seems a blood mind field out there and I think I will stay in the confomrt of badly fitted body kits by Nottinghamd kids on work experince.

no, not at all

its about a look, end of.

bens is show car, a lot of the dubbers cars are not daily drivers but thats because they spend so much money on them they dont want to risk them, but they are practical cars and get driven hard

I'm not a big fan of Euro look BMW's but some of the VW stuff looks cool. There are a couple of kids with Mk1 basic spec VW Polo's near me - basic chrome bumpers, minimal trim, but low with wide wheels and stretched tyres, and always spotlessly clean - looks good.

Not something I'd do myself but quite cool to look at :)

Ha, ha. I knew my car would be mentioned somewhere in this thread

It all depends what you want a car for. My car is very practical for what i built it for which is a thrash around every couple of months and the odd show here and there and back in the Garage. I havent driven it since POD, so as i said it's very practical for me. I think most modded cars are inpractical because the owners cut corners in some way due to lack of funds or whatever else. By that i mean bodykits, with no power or suspension left as standard even though they've slammed a big engine in, or brakes cant handle the power etc. Also most modders follow the trend at the time. I dont follow anything. I built a car i liked with no thought of what was in and what was not and i think you'll find most modding trends tend to do a full circle over time.

Anyway back to topic. Have a look at the BMW GALLERY here and that's Euro to a T winkeye

and would deffo do it to an e30, but stretched tyres are a big no no for me

i dont like how they look and im certainly not taking the safety risk of stretching

the e21 pics above are exactly how my e21s used to look years ago

slammed nice wheels clean lines etc

Wasnt taking offence to anything said here mate

It's almost impossible to have a proper Euro look without having stretched tyres. Rason being the rims are usually so wide you need the tyres stretched to clear the arches and make the rims not too high as i found out when i done my blue Motosports cab. I had serious issues trying to find the right tyres the 17x11 j rear and 19x10 j fronts. I must have tried about 5 different sizes and in the end i settled for the stretched look. I will have to find some pics :-)
