Okay guys, this car is starting to do my head in.
Question: Do i need to declare SORN if the car is getting scrapped in a week?
Should i do it anyway, just to be safe?

Yes, in theory you need to, & yes you might as well! Only a case of going into the post office...smithy318i wrote:Okay guys, this car is starting to do my head in.

if you have the registration document or the tax reminder/sorn doc that gets sent to you just make a phone call to the dvla to declare sorn. is automated and easy. the phone number is on the reminder also.

all you have to do is go through a list of options and then enter a ref number from the front of the reg document, the call takes about 4 mins, i did two of my cars last week. i would not worry if it aint in your name.

How about if you buy a car with no tax and you have it off the road for a while, do i need to do anything as i don't know whether the previous owner would have SORN it as the tax had only just ran out!
