Auto Glym Extra Gloss Protection

I have to admit, that in the past I've never really reated their sutt, always shunning them for Meguair's.

Last week decided to wash the car and found some Auto Glym stuff from when I was doing my cousin's Golf, so gave it a go...

1) Step 1 Meguiar's Paint Cleaner
2) Auto Glym Super Resin Polish
3) Auto Glym Extra Gloss Protection
4) Zymol Titanium Wax

Afterward, the paint felt great - very smooth, like glass (I've yet to clay the car before you ask).

Today, wanted to wash away a week's worth of grime. After shampooing the paint still felt great. Gave it another coat of AG EGP. Went on very easily, and prepped the surface nicely for a further coat of BMW OE Wax.

The EPG is very good stuff, the only prob is that it suggests 30-60 mins drying time (but you can always do your bumpers/wheels in that time).

Anyone tried their new HD Wax?

Yeah, It's highly recommended.
You won't be dissapointed, it gives a great finish and lt's very durable.

I am a fan of the HD Better than expected and nice and easy to do, the pre-moisten application pads are a nice touch

I use the HD wax George, its great stuff, I found using EGP before the wax gave a worse finish than without, Super Resin polish first then HD wax. I still have smears in the finish but not as bad as with the EGP
Ive got some Ultra Deep Shine polish to try out as its supposedly designed for dark colours

Suprised about the EGP leading to a worse finish for the HD.

I know SRP can be a bit on the abraisive side, esp if you apply it with some degree of pressure, as such I'm not one to SRP it very often.

I like to build up the layers of EPG though as it seems quite durable and ime, preps the surface nicely for any further wax coats.

I currently use Meguiar's Gold Class, but it's running out. As such looking for an alternative/upgrade. I was considering AG HD following good reports on Detailing World.

I was under the impression that the egp was a sealer that was used instead of or after wax? Probably completely wrong though!
When my new car arrived 4 weeks ago I put a coat of hd wax everywhere apart from the boot lid, just used egp and the beading is almost identical.

I may be completely wide of the mark but I thought egp was the same as liquid hard wax but the lhw was just a trade name for it and came in larger bottles?

EGP is a sealant and wax iirc.

Apparently (according to the folk on detailing world) it can be used as the final layer, or you can add wax on top.

Extra Gloss protection should be used under the wax.

the EGP is a LSP ( last stage product/protectant) using the HD wax or any other wax on top is pointless. you should use either the wax of the sealant as a LSP

the waxes usualy give more depth than a sealant


Winx you are correct, in the trade range EGP is Liquid hard wax

Dan, i wouldnt bother with the ultra deep shine, i think its crap. you are better of with a glaze of some sort, use it between the SRP and the HD wax for a wetter deeper look.

there a yank brand called clearkote, and they do a galze called red moose glaze. its fucking good and what i use on my e24
