Hi, my 84' 325 has only done 87,000 miles, 2 owners and has been looked after but the brakes are crap! Have bled and cleaned them, any thoughts? Not spongy just have to really stand on the pedal? Any ideas appreciated, thanks Nic

Hi and welcome! :D

If you are REALLY having to stand on the pedal I would suspect a faulty brake servo, or one way valve on the servo to inlet manifold hose, or a sticking brake caliper slider or two.

Are you saying that the brakes don't slow you down or that you have to put some effort in?

1. Check the servo as above
2. They were built that way in the 80s, before we all got to lazy to push a pedal :)

you can always console yourself and remember that its something silly like 85kg of effort required to brake an F1 car :)

the brakes on my e30 aren't stiff at all so I suspect as above the servo may be at fault.
