if im right the e36 compacts share many suspension parts with the e30
the 4 door im driving has had uprated shocks etc recently and drives really nice so far i cant fault it
unlike most e36s i have driven in the past, most have been awful things
not sure how the compacs drive never had a go in one
always liked the idea of getting one for an engine conversion tho
lol uhh ohh not the mid life crises mate
youll be wanting a convertible then lmao
got the e36 a few days ago, was looking for an e30 but couldnt find anything i could afford so started looking at the 36s, which for me is unheard of as i've always slagged them off in past lol
was purely financial decision to buy it as it was cheap but with plenty spent on it by previous owner
its only a 320i and hardly fast but it is very comfy to drive and effortless which is what i wanted to be honest
nicely lowered but still gets over speedbumps without dropping to 10mph etc lol
new exhaust system and stops very well with none of the usual e36 rattles etc which surprised me as the mrs has had a few of these and they drove nowhere near as good as this one, even tho hers all cost at least double what i paid for this one
my oppinion is still theyre an inferior drivers car compared to an e30 ie handling and fun factor but as an everyday cruiser they have there place without a doubt
but like i said i have been lucky with this one, but hey they cant all be dogs can they lol
if i was you however and planning to spend a couple thousand i would be looking at early e46s
theyre dropping hard in price nowdays and are superior to the e36s in my oppinon
saw a few at 2000/to 2500 mainly 320i's but there are a few 323s etc out there at similar money, think that will be my next step as mrs used to have a 323i e46 and that was a very nice comfy drive with all the toys you could wish for
