I have a paint pen kit from BMW to do a few scratches on the car, diamondschwartz (black). I'm just looking for any handy hints.

I've used pens before on flat non-metallic paint and got really good results by filing it proud with paint, wet sanding (super dooper fine grit) and then compounding it and then laquering the whole panel.

I'm wondering if this will work with metallic paint, because I fear the "metallic" bit will look funny if I compound it before laquering it, cos it will take the 'metallic' away.

Any advice? Also, will 1200 grade paper used wet on metallic paint mess up the finish? Guess I'll need to apply compound again afterwards and polish.

Thanks in advance
