This was put up for sale yesterday in jersey. Not a common site at all!

I've already started having twisted thoughts

The 2002 2.0L is an M10 engine correct? What is it like putting a 325i M20 in there? Or what is the 2.0L M10 like?

Strangely, I'm considering buying this, and molesting the crap out of it :D

2 Litre M10 is a great old engine. It costs a bit to re register a car on the mainland if you don't live in Jersey though.

You younglings cant see the potential of this car

Lowered, Deep dish alloys, propery polished with either a 2.0L turbo M10 or a tuned 325i M20 engine :chuckle:

Would be a little monster if done properly.

The saloon is stiffer than the touring, but the touring is (a lot) rarer...
However, they do like to rust...especially at the rear corners of the boot floor into the back panel/rear valance and rear quarters...

Standard 2lt M10 on single carb produces around 105-110bhp in good condition...

But it isn't hard (albeit not very cheap) to get 200bhp+ from these normally aspirated...

You may have a hard time making the M20 fit...Much easier to chuck in an S14 as the bottom end is essentially the same as the M10, so much the same size...

Dunno what prices are like in Jersey, but I'd expect it to be rust free and fairly original for the price being asked...

Well interesting comments! its actually my car-already mentioned on a post in this forum, the tourings are an aquired taste but with 15" BBS E30 wheels or something more period they look miles better and they are incredibly rare too.

Each to their own and all that!

Thanks, its not perfect being 36 years old it has a couple of very small rust bubbles here and there nothing a rub down and a rattle can couldn't sort, underneath is all body colour and solid its not a perfect car but with a bit of elbow grease it'll be seriously good.

Its taken me six years to buy this car as it kept getting away when I was so very close to doing a deal, the 2.0 M10 engine is quite torquey and overall its easy to forget you're in something cracking on for forty years old. Only issues I had when buying it were a non starting issue but I traced the three faults to starter brushes, voltage drop and voltage regulator-very frustrating to find three issues covering the same symptoms! other than a flasher relay and a clutch slave cylinder its an absolute joy to work on, very simples and easy access to all parts. I was going to buy a set of 15" E30 BBS alloys to stick on it as they look great on 15" (I sold my spare set to NayC just before I bought the 2002-bloody typical!) and I've seen some very interesting Tourings with the S14 M3 engine in-a direct relation to the M10 thats already in it. Interestingly these have four pot brake calipers as standard.

?? Whereas the E30 is getting to old skool (but can easily be confused as just being 'old'), the 2002 is properly old skool. Much cooler than an E30 imvho. Quite a bit harder to run as a daily driver though...

I was originally looking to get one (prior to going for the E30), however the associated missions meant I couldn't justify it.

Your car looks pretty tidy...
The wheels aren't original (E21 13" alloys, by the look of them)...

I used to have an Inca Orange 1802 saloon

Image

Rescued it as a mostly complete, non-runner restored it and had it resprayed in Inca (not its' original colour).

Was my daily driver for quite a while...then it was my brothers' for a bit, then sold...

I also had a 2002ti replica racing car...

Bigdoe First Tower eh? it had a massive and I mean huuuuuge folder of receipts and history that the strange previous owner ended up dumping and he kept the new pressed aluminium number plates 8O

Ah, Mr. Richard! So this is your car i've been inquiring about? Do you own it atm and am I emailing you about it?

God damn you. Its always you I end up talking to whenever I find something interesting.... 8O

Bigdoe, are you another Jersey lad? We're building up a small army now! What are you currently cruising around in (so I can have a look out?).

Richard, I was going to reply to your message you sent me yesterday (after a while lol) about your E36 M3. I'm also interested in coming to have a look at that, but I cant afford it atm, but if you aren't rushing into selling it, and I want it... then maybe we could talk about selling it sometime next year? I recently bought a 535i which was shamefully wrote off because a woman drove straight into me at a junction, which is apparently my fault.... :? So money has instantly tightened up and my lovely 3y NCB has dissappeared.....

Richard, its sitting a martin fernando's.

It is a 535i Manual with a very, very good engine. No prior problems and about 57k-58k miles, quite a few of which are motorway miles. Was a perfect gas guzzler!

I can see where you are going at that was one of my original plans, but I have nowhere to keep it.

If you want it, I can speak to my insurance company to find out how much we could "buy it back" for as they offered it to me when I was getting the money back. I'm about to send off the log book to them next monday, so if you want it and tell me quickly and I can speak to them about getting it back!

Personally, I prefer the rear-end to the saloons - their boot is too long and looks wrong.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......
