Simon, drag one of your dads bikes out , the e30 will feel like home after a quick blat on 2 wheels.
I get bored with mine real easy too, then I get the spanners out and fit some new toys, all good for moths after M8
as for Will, wrong wrong wrong M8
but I do understand why you did it

got to admit I sometimes get a bit bored with mine, sometimes I realise E30's just really ain't that quick. I see why my younger brother likes his MK3 Supra as massive power increases are cheaply and reliably obtainable.
Don't actually think I would sell the beemer though, I got it for next to nothing and on periods away from it in more comfortable modern stuff it never fails to please and feels raw and exciting.
I still always have to look back at it after parking and walking away and a glance of it in shop windows always you drive past always reassures me of one of the reasons I went for her.
mixed thoughts on it really, could just solve the problem by getting another car, mmmmmmm Autotrader

I have a job with Hertz at the moment ... called "hiking" ... Basically get to drive new cars around all day (and clean 'em !!) .There's nothing like getting into my 86 325i after a day of driving cars like Avensis, Mazda 6,Volvo v70, Audi A6, Skodas (sorry but I have to) and driving a real car! Having to push the clutch down, the low feeling of sitting in a cab, and the engine.
Brings a smile to my face every time !!
BMW's there -they have the baby 116 (not as good as an A3) and 320's (luxurious but lacks the soul of an e30)

Hmm another suggestion: Go drifting!
Try not to fall off the road or atleast save some money for when you do tho!

Time to modify it a bit more.
simon
i agree with simon....... and for once with salman.
why not flog the sport. add a couple of k and get an m3, have you driven one?
or you could mod yours......
e34 m5"s are dangerously cheap now. proper chariots.

I've been driving e30's for 4 years now too
But theres a 1.0 16v micra i know of...............................
would be god for work and 40mpg, it doesn't even have a clock!

dude, sorry to hear that!i must say i dont tend to get bored with cars easily-and i mean i'm HEAVY on them.
therefore i think it must be really bad for you to feel like this. does this sound about right?
the e30 is dangerous as it lulls you into a sense of security that all cars could do what they do.
get a FWD underpowered chariot and use that during the week-summat like that micra you mentioned would be ideal..
get used to the 'tractor' gearbox
the understeer
the numb handling
the lack of involvement
the fact you don smile AT ALL, EVER when you drive it or see it
The sound of the asthmatic 1.0 16v 4pot sewing machine motor.
then get back into the sport and realise that the e30 does so much more than most cars, and instills a connectedness that few can match.revel in the glorious burble of the straight 6 and the surefooted handling.
stick with it mate, it's like a relationship-you gotta work at it, but at least th car is available 4 weeks outta 4

here's the thing - i know you use your car for work every day - so of course you'll get a little bored and start looking at other cars.
i also know that you like speed and that your garage has some bikes parked in it. may i (strongly) suggest that you take a week off work and do your direct access and get yourself a bike licence. now when the whether is good enough take a bike to work. the petrol saving will soon pay for your direct access fee, birds dig bikers and really get off on riding pillion especially if you give it some beans and your missus is away and when you get back in your sport you'll really appreciate it.
trust me - it works.
also you'll find yourself judging more and more days to be good enough to ride - sometimes even when it teeming down!

Mate,
It's cos you use it for work, and for pleasure.
You need a van for work, then when you get in the BMW after driving the van it's better than ever.
Or, you need a turbo.

LOL first time i've heard anyone sing the praises of an e30 gearbox!!! even with the z3 conversion they still need arm extensions of the sort inspector gadget would be proud of...only a real short shift kit (like dale has/had?) is anywhere near a decent shift!320Touring wrote:get used to the 'tractor' gearbox

ROFL what you got on yours then dave? i have tried z3, and plenty of normal ones, all awful (i am comparing to the z3 short shift which was particularly AWESOME though - but dale's was excellent too)

With the new Engine, and Sport box....
I have a Z3 2.8 (the only good bit on it!) lever, and replaced all the perishable rubbers/bushes.
Feels great.
Bedtime now mate.
Got to go to work in the morning to earn money to fix my E30 for it's MoT.
I await a funny comment in the morning.

funny comment: z3 short shift is any good! lol!
the 2.8 lever is better than the 1.9 from the design yeah...i tried a 1.9 lever and no no no although miles of improvement on the old shift it's no where near good enough..
re: z3 2.8 - lol - i won't say anything, suffice to say i considered the z3 a better car than the e30, as an overall thing. i guess i don't like being so 'in touch' with the road (read: you can hear everything due to no sound proofing) and don't enjoy the 'response' from the car (read: having 1 million turns lock to lock) LOL
anyway this isn't really the ideal place for me to argue that!
i like e30's and definitely great cars to work on yourself, so great as projects etc, but i'm not obsessed like some others
