I wouldn't have said it's a case of 'what paint', rather 'how to make it stick'

Spend twice as long prepping as you do painting. I've got a horrible feeling whatever you put on will flake off unless you prime it too. You might be better just sourcing some dechromed ones.

Well i have 2 grilles (or will have, i hope) so if it doesn't work out i can put the other one back on. and i need to buy some paint to do my wiper arms anyway. So i thought id kill two birds...

lightly sand then use an etching primer then satin black, job done :D

ETCH PRIMER !! ... U gotta use it... I took mine, and sanded the hell outta it, then got it sand blasted, then sanded more (still didn't get all the chrome off) , then whacked it with black etch primer, I think I did 3 coats... just like that it looks good, I also sprayed my grilles to match. I'm still gonna do redo them with Matt Black over the etch, I'm not using clear coat, cause it makes them too glossy

yeah deffo use etch primer u only really need alite coat and then once its dry whack a couple o coats of black on i used matt black on my grille and then lacquerd it looks good cos i used 2pack stuff
