Depends what it is - some old sh1tters will never be classics - they're just old sh1tters.
Some were classics from new : E30 M3, Sierra Cosworth, Audi Quattro etc etc

Its a maestro. An MG badge - turbo or no turbo - will not lift it out of the sh1tter category.

I would define a classic car - as anything over a certain age well looked after and maintained bodywork in mint condition!

There is a guy near me who drives a fairly pristine old W reg (when the reg indication was at the end of the number plate) Datsun Bluebird.
I imagine he thinks it's a classic.

Theres a classic club round here who will only allow pre 73 cars in as that was when the rolling 25 years historic vehicle law stopped rolling and meant only cars built pre 73 are Tax exempt.
The only problem using that as a rule means E30's arn't classics, which i think they are, but not as much as an E21 is.
Same problem with mini's produced for nearly 50 years, but only pre 73 ones are classics ? MGB's etc also have this problem when the MG clubs want to go to classic shows and only half the club are allowed in.

i think anything old, which is quite rare is considered a classic... obviously e30s are a lot rarer than they used to be and will potentially soon become classic status.. obviously an m3 e30 would be considered classic because they are so rare, things like ford cortinas also.. etc

I'd reckon a car would need to be 25+ years to be a classic.
