welcome mate

I'd go for a 2.5 TBH m8 :D

much greater gains from a turbo than on a 2.0 and they aint to expensive too, don't know your budget but I would go for a 2.5

If you are gonna DIY the turbo install my advice would be.

1/ turbo the 2.0, its a known engine and will give impressive gains dude, the heads on the 320s are a stronger design, provide a much better head gasket sea.l

2/ select your components carefully !
3/ dont go mad and bolt a massive turbo on !
4/ decide what sort of power you want, no sense building a 600 bhp monster if shes your daily driver
5/ budjet on a standalone ECU, the motronic cannot be configured to "see" boost , you could get it remapped to suit but this should be avoided, you must have excellent mixture control to run FI

Dont do what I did, buy loads of stuff, then look at it all and think.... HOW ??

Think the T2 is a bit small. Renault 5GTTs had T2 and tiny engines :(

I'd say something like a T25 from some 2 litre rover turbo or an S13 200SX would see 200bhp on a 2 litre engine. Or perhaps a T28 from the later 200SX?

You can buy a brand new GT28R for less than Ԛ£500 in the states (not inc vat) so don't spend a shed load on a second hand blower!

I paid Ԛ£200 for a pair of T25s for my conversion and they're almost brand new :)

Also, don't get too wrapped up in the 'T' numbers of garrett turbos as they're only really generic numbers that don't mean an awful lot. E.g. the Metro turbo had a T3, so did the Sierra cosworth, they're nothing like eachother!

Management can cost lots or a little really, my Emerald cost about Ԛ£750 and will cost another Ԛ£235 to have properly mapped.

Ant and fozzymonster have a Megasquirt which is substantially cheaper!

Good luck, keep us posted! :)

Talking of Megasquirt................

Its alive !!!! wohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I have just updated the firmware (again) and have revised the setting to suit the fuel requirements for my install, these I have burnt back onto the MS, all I need to find now is the correct megatune .ini file for the basemap.

MS is excellent, regardless of the cost, I think where the Emerald shines is its ease of use, Megasquirt has soooo many variants and sub variants based on identical hardware its all got a bit confusing:lol:.

I have 99% got my head around it now, I know the settings are correct, the missing link is the config file for the PC display software, I have 5 real time displays working as intended, the remaining 3 are garbled until this file is sourced

close, very very close

Get one that matched the cossie RWD spec for a 2 litre, its a damn good place to start dude.

T3 is not gonna bolt onto the TD manifold though M8, the flanges dont match adapter required ( DIY )

try www.e30tech.com and use the turbo FAQ section, theres a wealth of info on there M8

Just need to check the A/R ratio of the cossie turbo I guess.

Also, unless you want the hassle and extra expense of fitting an external wastegate, it might be worth specifying an integral one for another $60.

Tis quite handy that site isn't it :)

You can get hold of a 324td manifold, you lucky fork! Are you in the uk if you are, are you sure its a 324td manifold not a 325td manifold. I tried many places for one, but couldn't find one! 329turbo on here might be your best bet as he is in holland??

Those turbos on that site are very cheap, but do you have to have an exchange one to send back being that they are re-manufactured, i'm too lazy to check!

Alex did you get the cheque mate?

325 one does fit but doesn't give you a t3 flange.

I've heard of a couple of people who have bought from that site and they don't require an exchange! :)

I did get the cheque! Really, sorry, been meaning to PM you to say thanks!

if you are going down a DIY rout, play with you 320 first, i wouldnt chance it on a 2.5 and have it go pop. on my 335i turbo i'm getting over 350 bhp on low boost, on a 2.5 turbo me and dips built, we got 250bhp at the wheels, about 285bhp at the fly wheel. the 2.5 is a low comp engine and a bit laggy but can run more boost, we had it set at 16psi, the 335 turbo still has fairly high compresion which means instant power and torque with only 10psi. sourcing a manifold is the hardest bit, but we can get them. if you are serious e-mail me
