Just a quick question about fuel tanks.

Basically im putting a fuel tank in the boot of the car for single venue rallys. Its all firewalled/sealed off from the driver etc. But im just wondering, i have cut the spare wheel well out and im just wondering whether i can drop a tank in where the well was or does it need to be inside something eg. something to guard the tank like the old well. Im just wondering as the standard bmw tank is under the floor and exposed with nothing protecting it, or do you that race of know the regulations for competition put some kind of guard over the tank.

Any help would be much appreciated but ideally looking for a definate answer.

Cheers

You should really look at the Blue book for direction

I agree with the above. I would probably be able to tell you if it was racing, feels like it's the only thing I've read for ages. However the Rallying section is totally different and I haven't ventured there.

Check the MSA rule book. My inclination would be towards an ATL Saver or Sports Cell (cheaper range) inside one of their bespoke aluminium or steel containers.

Run a proper Aviation spec fuel system (AN plumbing throughout) with a Bosch 044 Pump for pressure.
