There is apparently confusion as to which size tank my car requires. The car is a euro-spec '89, E-30, 316i. The guage reads up to 55l. I purchased a 55l tank already and it looks/fits identical from the outside. However, the petrol pump bucket is too shallow and does not allow the pump to set deep enough into the tank. It is about 3/8" or 10mm too shallow.

Also, if it helps identify the correct part. My original one has a steel line that goes from one half of the tank to the other.

Can someone help me identify the correct part number and approximate cost.

Thanks,
Brian

Welcome,

Cotswold will be closed today as it's a Bank Holiday here in the UK

The tank you need is :-

Is your car a face lift model with plastic bumpers? As i though this type tank was only fitted to pre-facelift cars with chrome bumpers.
1 & 2 bed flats in Bournemouth areas, with parking

Thank you very much for the link. I am actually thinking that the part store gave me the wrong pump instead of the tank being wrong. The pump they sold me has some sort of diaghram or extra filter attached to the feed lines internally. The original one and the one in the link do not show that part.

I am not sure about the facelift model, but there is no chrome visible on either bumper.
