OK, now in my day (a LONG time agao - we didn't even have electricity then) there were 2 types of bass speaker in the home (hadn't made it to cars yet, we were still on 8-tracks).

1. The infinite baffle which, as I remember, was just a sealed box

2. The bass reflex, which was the same but with a hole cut in the bottom of the cabinet, also pointing forward. Does it still work this way? Only I've been reading all the posts, and there's all stuff about tuned holes or something...

Hello
You could try the JL audio website they have a tuturial section on sub enclosures. It is quite comprehensive too.

bass reflex is porting it just in the old days they had no precise measurements so it was done by ear these days its much more advanced.

for a good read look up B&W speakers too particularly nautilus
