Hi I hope all you useful people out there can help me.

My car ('83 323i) has just failed its MOT on the sub-frame bushes... :? Garage recons about Ԛ£80 labour +parts and VAT to fix, is this a good price and what will the bushes themselves cost? Also are there only two of them there?

I need to know soon cos I want the car for the weekend...

Thanks in advance.

thats not a bad price-BMW themselves charge Ԛ£150-170 for that job. subframe bushes are at the rear, supporting the frame that the wheels/axle and suspension sit on

They usually go together. Not worth the hassle if one side goes a month or 2 later

Seems a reasonable price - the old ones are buggers to get off apparently. Had mine done for my recent MoT and couldn't believe the difference they made - car handles so much better now.

I'm not too bothered about what bushes go back in as long as they are oem.

I think poly bushes may feel a bit harsh? If the handling gets better then that will be good cos I've got a new set of Yoko 539's going on as well!

Just about to replace mine ( had a quote of Ԛ£70 less parts, from a local independant but decided to do it myself ) i've cheated a bit by using a spare axel carrier and fitted the new ones into that so to cut the down time Cost from main dealer Ԛ£30 + vat but i know they're OEM. I normally use GSF but it's not the sort of job you want to repeat. if you get my meaning
