I've been reading through a number of posts and IÔš've seen reference to 325i's running a little choppy at low speeds and when pottering around town.
I've just purchased my 325i two weeks ago and my friend bought his this week. Both our cars run sh*t at low speeds and the other two I went to see before this one did too. I wasn't sure if this was just because both our cars had gone around the world half a dozen times in mileage and needed some attention. Is this a common issue? Somebody had suggested subframe bushes may need replacing...
New to these cars so still learning there various little nuances!

Hi mate, a chip is a good way forward as it increases the idle speed slightly and bumps the performance up a good few BHP, there is a guy on here called Ant that sells them.
a good service can help, and maybe clean the idle valve as well.
nice to see someone on the zone not far away from me.
where abouts r u in telford?

Welcome to the Zone, Poprin. I'm going to move this thread to the Tech Help section as i'm sure you'll get a better response there.
Good luck!

Im happy to know that its not just mine as well! Mine sounds like a big 60s V8 the way it idles but as soon as you touch the throttle its lovely and smooth.

Sounds like you've all got your tappets a bit tight. MIne runs lovely and smooth, not too noisy, now I 've adjusted the tappets 4 times.......

Might try that. I did get them nice and tight on the feeler when I adjusted them so maybe loosening them a fraction might help.

In my experience, the blade should slide freely, but you should feel no movement in the rocker with the blade inserted.
I firstly adjusted mine to a 'tight sliding fit' which has always worked well for other OHV cars, but is too tight for my M20.

it rumbles away shaking the car at idle but pulls well from 1500 rpm and up. i've heard it's the blue temp sender (for the ecu) giving off a cold signal and hence the car running too rich. i like it though!
