Well after figuring my exhaust was blowing about last wednesday, I pottered about knowing full well it wasnt running it's best. On the Friday I reluctantly challenged my rear brakes to a change, well needed too the rear shoes fell off! oh well. having to get some new brake lines made up I didnt have it back on the road until late saturday afternoon. Great I thought, decided to pop over and see some friends in chester.

However on the way I needed to pull over and put the crap in the boot in the rear footwell to stop it flying about, I pulled off and proceded to u-turn, being clever I thought I would just kick the back end out, however this wasnt to happen as the exhaust became detached where it goes 2 into 1, lots of noice and no power.

anyway ordered the parts from ECP's in chester said they would be in tuesday, so I went down and collected them. easily done, opened up the fitting kit once home and none of it was relevent it was for the back box so no use to me!! took it back and got the gaskit and bolts I needed separate and saving a tenner in the process :D
so I finally get the old gaskit off, put the new one on and hold up the exhaust, to locate it I needed to support the box so I held it up slipped it over the studs only to find I couldnt let go so I was then stuck for 10 minutes until someone came to my help and put the jack under it lol.
from there on it was easy as pie, chuffed with myself and chufed its back on the road :D

bit of an epic but done in the end happy as larry now!

Hope you fitted the gearbox mount correctly. As I didn't have one (didn't know they had one..) and had to replace the down pipe again about 6 months later....

It is a fun job!

well.. the original snapped at some previous time and the makeshit braket that was put on also snapped and probably caused it to break in the first place so I have made a new bracket and will be getting a proper bracket from BMW next time I go by.
