i have read the million page topic at the top of the page.

i just wondered what i need in terms of mounts and gearbox prop? what brake servo to use as i see alot of people using golf gti ones? is there any particular one to use?

am i right in thinking i could use e36 rubber mounts a 318is gearbox with a m20 prop, or are there any other combinations that people use

the engine i have is out of an e36 so i have bought an e34 m50 sump and oil pick up.

thanks in advance, paul

Use a Clio servo dude, much better than the golf units, gives back some pedal feel that the golf unit seems to rob you of...

as for mounts, E36 arms with e28 M535 engine mounts are my preferred choice.

you have the correct sump and dipstick, you need the oil pickup pipe for that too as the E36 unit is a no go.

for gearbox, M40/42 will fit ok, M20 fly and gearbox also fit with some tweaks to the mounts and selector assy.

there is no right/wrong combo of parts, and more than 5 methods that can be used to complete the conversion successfully.

M50 is a close relation to M42,which is developed from M40. M50 sits at a different angle to M20,so discount all M20 'boxes. This leaves you with a choice of any E30 4 cylinder 'box. I believe that they are all the same,so do not pay a extra for a 'galvanised' ex M42 'box.A standard E30 prop will fit,you have a wide choice of E30 diffs, depending upon your requirements. You require E36 engine mounting brackets,E34 rubber mounts will do.Brake servo? Plastic wing Clio, cira 2000,be aware that the Frogs fitted at least two diferent clevis mounts, you need the longer of the two, similar to the E30 type.(measure BEFORE going to the scrappy, saves going back!)you will need a spacer between master and servo, careful measuring of both servos will give you a starting point.Gear linkage, you will need to swap the ex M40/42 selector rod and the gearstick mount for a 320 type, whilst you are there, fit a Z3 1.9 gearstick as well, and replace all the bushes.Where are you mounting your battery? Under the bonnet? You will need the engine loom from the E36,then(it's longer)battery in the boot? E34 loom will do,you will need a weather proof box on the battery tray for the ECU,like E34.

I have used M20 fly with 325 clutch. This combo also requires an M20 starter. The pitch of the flywheel ring gear vaies between M20 and M40/42/50.
