My tutor has a 320i convertible without EWS.
But also has a 328i convertible with EWS II.
And wants to drop the 2.8 in the 320i but wants to get rid of the EWS.
Anyways of doing this?
I did search but didn't really get much up.
Cheers,
Jamie.

swop the whole lot, EWS an all.
EWS delete needs to be done directly @ the ECU(custom written Eprom/Reflash) so no-one will do it cheap, as he has all he requires, get the spanners out !
320 vert must be V early !

Jeepster wrote:EWS can be sorted by cutting a few wires, its pretty simple really. A search on google will yield a fair few results.

I know of a guy that will reflash the ECU to remove it, he charges 150 euros + post
Its cheaper to swap the bits over
Connect the wires in pins 1 and 3 on the ews module, job done.
Of course, your clearly the font of all knowledge.....DanThe wrote:Jeepster wrote:EWS can be sorted by cutting a few wires, its pretty simple really. A search on google will yield a fair few results.

Hey Jeepster, I followed your advice and now my car turns over but won't fire...
It's almost as if I BYPASSED THE STARTER CIRCUIT RELAY WITHOUT REALISING HOW EWS-II WORKS.

Read, understand.
And it would be YOU'RE the font of all knowledge.

...or is it?
LoL
I take your point, I'm no auto spark, the response came from me because the fact is there is loads of info on t'interweb (which was laughed at) and looking for info with the comment about the plugs will get you to it. Fact is there folks all over who have bypassed the EWS without the need to pay lot's of money.
Essentially were are talking about a circuit and as such there is a work around.

but EWS 2 and 3 send a coded pulse to the DME allowing it to start, all the hardwired stuff like the starter and main power feeds are easily bypassed yet the engine will not run without the code- fact
unless a DME flash is carried out to embed the rolling code in the software permenantly, there is no way forwards
There is a lot of BS on the internet concerning this, most that claim to have "bypassed" simply added the red label series of OBD1 ECUs to the later engines ( 413/075 etc)
Personally I'd love to be proved wrong on this, save me a lot of time and money when carrying out 24V swaps for customers
