I'm doing a 2.5 engine conversion and I'm looking to get a custom stainless exhaust system made up for it. The manifolds will be modified M52 items and then from there I want to merge the two primaries into a single pipe all the way to the back box. My question is, what would be the optimum size for the single pipe? I have my reasons for going to a single pipe rather than just using a 325i system.
I may in the future make an iron block 2.8 so the engine may increase in power in the future...
Cheers!

single 2.5" would suffice, indeed should flow a little more then the OEM twin 1 7/8th system, getting the shape of the 2 into 1 collector right will be the key to this one dude,
