Auto Box Hell

After replacing the engine, i now cant get a gear.

I have filled it with fluid, ran it idle for a while and cant get anything.

I have one wheel off the ground so i can see if theres anything happening.

Only bit of joy was high revs and threw it into first, the wheel jumped round then nowthing

I think that there is no AT fluid in the torque converter... how do I fix ??

with engine runnin take out fill plug and keep puttin fluid in and go up and down the gear box no revin tho (till fluid comes out of fill hole

i filled it up via the dipstic as i usualy do

untill it over flowed at the rear.

so im guessing its got enough fluid??

or does using the fill plug push air through ???

u need engine runnin to bleed the box up and is easyer from under the car

car has been running for about an hour and still no joy though, have i over filled it with fluid ???

or does the filler need to be removed to allow it to bleed ?

how much fluid did it take. it should bleed even with out the fill plug out
should take bout 7/10L auto fluid all depends how empty the converter is

Took about 6 litres but was sitting up hill.

Ill add some more in the morning and jack it up at the rear.

fooking haynes manual says 4.5litres !

the last 1 i done was a 3L e34 so may b different!!!!!
