Can anyone please offer advice on the best coil over supplier / manufacturer for track day use ?
Anyone tried "GAZ Gold" units or "G4 racing" units currently on Ebay?
Are coil overs definitely the best set up?

I've tried(still have fitted) GAZ Gold's on the rear
I can say,I've found there customer service to be very good
I.E front inserts rebuilt and returned within a week.

G4 racing ones look and will be shite for track use if they are the budget ones I am thinking of..Chelly wrote:Can anyone please offer advice on the best coil over supplier / manufacturer for track day use ?

Gaz are good for the money but heard things about shocks going pop.. Plus they are 'old' twin tube technology
Coilovers are not definitely the best setup.. The best setup depends on your abilities and experience. If you are trackday veteran (guessing not) and the car is not going to be used as a daily then you want a 'hard' setup, however it wont work so well at the lower speeds of a trackday novice and when it does go wrong, there will be no forgiveness, compared to a softer setup..
Food for thought

Thanks Jhonno
Not track day novice or Veteran (but only 2 years experiance), car not used daily. Track day slag only!
Would set up would you recommend for less than £1K then?

For less than 1k you have 2 options.. Gaz or DIY, depending on your mechanical abilities or want of manufacturer support..
2 years experience.. In an E30? Also it isn't so much time period as number of trackdays and hence track hours that count for experience tbh

Dont mess about- use the race proven GAZ Golds, buy direct from them for the best price
Not heard of any going "pop" on any of the race cars running them, and if the dampings right (which it is) then there is nothing wrong with a twin tube design.

GAZ turnaround will be quick, but need some struts in exchange to build yours up from, we have some suitable 45mm ones if you are interested?

Have a strut brace on the rear and a full cage, will this be strong enough or do I need additional strengthening to the rear turrets to run coil overs ?
Cragles ~ Have access to struts but thanks for the offer..

I've gotten away with just using some Z3 reinforcing plates( have good solid turrets on the tourer).Have a strut brace on the rear and a full cage, will this be strong enough or do I need additional strengthening to the rear turrets to run coil overs ?
