Hi, I have been offered a eta crank and decked block so you can build a 2.7 with proper dishdome pistons, What are Dish dome pistons and what other stuff will i need?, my donor car is a 320i, Please help a newbie, Thanks.

Hi there, have a look at the top of this section there is a sticky for building a 2.7. However I know it can be a bit confusing at first!?!
The way that you described is one of the best ways to build a 2.7, as there is potential for more power, but it is a more expensive way. The good news is the decked block is one of the costly things to do
To get the main body of the engine together now you need, some 320i con rods, you have these if you are willing to sacrifce your engine(go on its worth it
), some 325i pistons, and a 325i head.
You will also need the ancillary components from a 325i, manifolds, injectors, ignition ect, and obviously new gaskets, seals and bearings when you build the engine.

Bear in mind that a 2.7 built in this way will require a vernier cam pulley,as the cam and crank are moved a little closer together.This build will give you a powerful,torque laden engine that will stand futher tuning.An after market cam with a lumpier profile would be a good buy,along with a 6 branch manifold.Would also be worth investigating the aftermarket ECU's as well,these give good results with this build.
