(also posted in tech sect)

Regarding my last post about the revs on my 3.5 conversion staying up whilst driving and when the car comes to a standstill, they drop back down to normal idle speed after 10secs, all this after changing my ecu and TPS from a 2.5 to 3.5 ones..

i noticed today that if i unplug the ICV the revs drop down straight away?

could my ICV also be from a 2.5??? anyone help my with a part number so i can check it against mine pls !

E30 325 uses the same idle control valve, just checked on my ETK. Have you tried cleaning it out with brake cleaner (or is carb cleaner)

Mine had a similiar problem with the revs sitting at 1500rpm when warmed up, started when we had the cold snap and since it's warmed up (weather) it's gone away :D

Just noticed you said changed the TPS from a 2.5 to a 3.5?? The M20B25 TPS works in the opposite direction to the M30B35, how was that fitted?

:?: :?: :?:

Dunno mate, but the part number on my TPS and ecu was that of a 525.. !

so if it was all idling and driving fine until i changed the ecu and TPS , could the problem be the ICV or are you saying that wont/shouldnt make a difference?

From what you've written above about the idle returning to normal after about 10 seconds it sounds like it could be ICV related (I could be completely wrong), try cleaning it out with cleaner. Has the new ECU had time to program itself? I was told to leave the car running for 10 minutes idling then go for a drive trying to use the rev range with different loads, so it knows it's parameters.

Are all the connectors clean and in good condition, ICV, TPS, AFM? Has any of the wiring been cut and resoldered? I'm just wondering if you've got a bad join/plug somewhere.

no cuts n joins in the wiring, was only a change of ecu and tps..

will give the ICV a good clean 2moro..

just wondering what it means when you unplug the ICV and it runs spot on ?
