First time on this board, seems like you guys know a lot about the e30.
Im from Australia and have recently bought an e30 convertible (in addition to an e36 sedan ive had for eons)
my question is: are the convertible roof lid struts gassed or am I ment to just hold the thing up while I put the roof down?
also- is the aerial on the stock stereo ment to go up only when listening to radio or also when a tape is played?

yes the roof lid struts are supposted to hold the roof up if they dont work just keep an eye on ebay and you should pick some up cheep
Also it depends on your Stereo you have, mine only goes up when im listening to the radio, when a cd is in it stays down

My stereo is the one that came with the car and the aerial goes up when you switch on, so it is up whether radio or tape is playing.
yep stuts are gased but commonly fail. i have heard you can use struts from the front seats, im sure someone will be along to clarify this.
as for the radio aerial. mine used to go up whether i was playing cd or radio, and it pissed me off so i disconnected it.
